The cabin air filter is located behind the glove box. Open it then empty all contents. Grab both sides inside the box and push them inward. The glove box will then drop out further. On the left side is a catch cable. Slide that down and pull it out. The box should then just pull out. The cover for the filter is rectangular and gray or black color.
Behind the glove box, cut the piece of plastic out that is the slot for the air filter in the 2010+, then buy a 2010 taurus filter, stick it in, and cover with HVAC tape. It is very much worth it!! Sam
